Trail: Gianelli Trail to Chewing Gum Lake

Where: Emigrant Wilderness within the Stanislaus National Forest

The hike begins at Gianelli Trailhead

When: Meet between 9:30-10am in the parking lot, near the brown sigh, or look for the SSE Flag!

Other Pertinent Info:

  • There is no service at the trailhead. If you get lost, you can go back down (west) on Highway 108 to Summit Ranger Station and ask for directions.

  • It takes around 3 hours to get to the trailhead from Sacramento and about 3.5 hours from San Francisco. There is lodging in Pinecrest or Sonora if you’d like to split the drive up. There are typically open parking spots at the store, but after we meet, we can show you were overflow parking is.

Itinerary

Day 1**:

  • Meet at 9:30-10am at the trailhead

  • Get familiarized with gear and go over safety briefing

  • Approximately 2-4 hours of hiking, depending on group need breaks

  • Set up camp

  • Afternoon activities (options for rest, meditation, day hiking, photography, fishing, swimming, gathering wood, etc.)

  • Fire (as allowed) and Dinner

Day 2**:

  • AM free time (options for rest, meditation, photography, fishing, etc.)

  • Breakfast

  • Guided stretching (if requested)

  • Break down camp

  • Approximately 2-4 hours of hiking back to trailhead depending on group needs and breaks

  • Return home to a shower and comfortable bed!
