Trail: Laguna Trail and Coast Trail Loop

Where: Point Reyes National Seashore

The hike begins at the Laguna Trailhead Parking lot.

We will meet at the parking lot to go through gear and get you set up before hitting the trail!

When: Meet between 9:30-10am

  • There is minimal service at the trailhead.

  • You can download this information page using the download button further down the page.

  • It takes around 2.25 hours to get to the trailhead from Sacramento.

  • Hiking Socks (Synthetic or Wool) Cotton is the enemy out there!

  • Insulated Jacket and/or Vest

  • Personal Bathroom Kit: Toilet Paper, Ziplock Bags, Personal Wipes, Hand Cleaner

  • Rain Jacket (Hooded, Lightweight, Waterproof, Breathable)

  • Sunblock 

  • Lip Balm

  • Sunglasses and Accessories

  • Tee Shirts (Synthetic)

  • Water Bottles (Two 1-Liter) or Hydration System Plus One 1-Liter Water Bottle

  • Waterproof Hiking Boots or quality trail shoes

  • Additional Snacks

  • Toiletries

    ** If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask. No questions are too big/small/silly/etc. We’ve only had people regret not asking. Also, not everything on the above list will need to come with you, but they’re good to consider. We recommend bringing them to the trailhead and we can advise you there (depending on weather, other stuff you have, etc.)

Itinerary

Day 1**:

  • Meet at 9:30-10am at the trailhead

  • Get familiarized with gear and go over safety briefing

  • Approximately 2-4 hours of hiking, depending on group need breaks

  • Set up camp

  • Afternoon activities (options for rest, meditation, day hiking, photography, fishing, swimming, gathering wood, etc.)

  • Fire (as allowed) and Dinner

Day 2**:

  • AM free time (options for rest, meditation, photography, fishing, etc.)

  • Breakfast

  • Guided stretching (if requested)

  • Break down camp

  • Approximately 2-4 hours of hiking back to trailhead depending on group needs and breaks

  • Return home to a shower and comfortable bed!

Detailed Directions

Meeting Point: Laguna Trailhead, Point Reyes National Seashore

Driving Directions:

  1. From San Francisco (approx. 1.5-hour drive)

    • Take US-101 North over the Golden Gate Bridge.

    • Take Exit 450B for Sir Francis Drake Blvd toward San Anselmo.

    • Follow Sir Francis Drake Blvd west through San Anselmo and Fairfax (~21 miles).

    • Turn right onto CA-1 North at Olema.

    • Drive ~1 mile, then turn left onto Bear Valley Road.

    • Continue for 2 miles, then turn left onto Limantour Road.

    • Follow Limantour Road for ~7 miles to the Laguna Trailhead parking lot on the right.

  2. From the East Bay

    • Take I-580 West over the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge.

    • Merge onto US-101 North and follow the same directions as above from Sir Francis Drake Blvd.

  3. From Sacramento (approx. 2.5-hour drive)

    • Take I-80 West toward San Francisco.

    • Merge onto CA-37 West toward Novato.

    • Take US-101 South for ~4 miles, then exit at San Anselmo/Sir Francis Drake Blvd.

    • Follow the same directions as above from Sir Francis Drake Blvd.

Parking & Meeting Spot:

  • The Laguna Trailhead parking lot is on the right side of Limantour Road, about 7 miles from the Bear Valley Visitor Center.
